Ubuntu Linux and LOUD

Information about the LCSEE Optimized Ubuntu Distribution.

Submit a LOUD support request in the LCSEE Systems Service Center.

The Lane Department uses the Linux platform for many Computer Science courses. LOUD is a meta-distribution of Ubuntu Linux that has been customized specifically to support these courses. It's also the version of Linux that powers the LCSEE Server Infrastructure.

Students, faculty, and staff are able to install the very same version of LOUD used in LCSEE computing facilities and on the Shell Servers. The goal is to provide students access to the tools that they need to succeed in LCSEE courses without the risk of wiping out their day to day operating systems used for web browsing, photos, music, etc. LOUD can be installed on most modern desktop and laptop computers using virtualization software.

To install LOUD on your on computer visit our LOUD Services Page for installation instructions, videos, and downloads.
