How do I connect to my Ubuntu Linux machine remotely?
Submit a LOUD support request in the LCSEE Systems Service Center.
WVU's GlobalProtect VPN client will allow you to connect to your on-campus PC that is on Statler College networks using a Remote Desktop (or SSH) client.
First, complete this form, making sure to include your WVU Login name and the name of your Faculty Advisor. Once you get approval confirmation, proceed to the next step.
Next, make sure you have the GlobalProtect VPN client up and running using these instructions: https://wvu.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/5/article/298745929?src=474425639
Determine your remote machine’s IP address - typically in a Linux Terminal using ipaddr or ifconfig. You may also use the Settings application depending on up your distribution and graphical desktop environment.
Setup you remote machine to accept RDP and/or SSH connections.
On your local machine, connect to the WVU VPN, then use a remote desktop client or SSH client to connect to the IP address of your remote machine.
To transfer files between your remote and local system, please use a cloud storage app such as WVU Office 365's One Drive for Business or MiX Google Drive and store your files appropriately.
