Senior Design FAQ

Information about the Senior Design computing resources.

I've been assigned a PC in the Senior Design lab. How do I login?

Each semester, LCSEE Systems wipes and refreshes the PCs in the Senior Design lab.

Once the Senior Design instructor assigned work areas to groups, you may login to that computer using the account "senior_design". No password is set initially but you will be prompted to set on upon login.

If a password as has already been set on a system, it is likely that there is confusion about which group is assigned to a work area. In which case, the system may have already been used by another person.  Clarify this situation with the Senior Design instructor and have him/her contact LCSEE Systems to have the password reset.

I need extra network ports for my Senior Design project. How do I arrange this?

In today's world of connected devices, we realize that your project may have network needs.

The Senior Design lab lives in a dedicated and segmented network. If your project requires you add devices to the Senior Design network so that they can talk to other devices, such as your work area PC, please let us know.

Please do not disconnect the PC in your work area from the wall port. The machines are monitored and managed. Our monitoring system will alert us when a machines is disconnected or goes offline.

If you need an addition network card in your PC, such as for a private network, we can arrange this as well.

I need additional software for my Senior Design PC. How do I arrange this?

Senior Design PCs are prepared with a common suite of tools including Matlab. If you would like additional software, you are permitted to perform those installations.

If you would like LCSEE Systems to perform any additional software installations, simply let us know at helpdesk@support.lcseesystems.net.

How do I get my Senior Design PC unlocked from the workbench for the expo?

Senior Design PCs are secured to work benches. If you would like to use your PC in an alternate area for the Senior Design Expo, please let us know. You will be responsible for returning your system in a working state, connecting all peripherals, and informing LCSEE Systems that the system has been returned.
